Aim and Scope
Our faculty is comprised of experienced physicians in medicine and related branches and dedicated to be the pioneer in health services and scientific studies. It aims to educate researchers and physicians who can provide qualified health services and fulfill the health demands and needs through true diagnosis.
It is aimed to give education, to train qualified experts, who are able to run projects, make scientific contributions to the health world, find solutions to society’s health problems, use technology effectively and adopt scientific approaches. Innovative thinking is adopted by combining both hands-on practice with theoretical knowledge, aiming to improve the knowledge and skills of the students with experienced academicians.
The Content of Education and Internships
Our university curriculum’s basic principle is to create a program which trains doctors who are leading pioneers, care about patients’ rights, adopt scientific and innovative approaches, believes in teamwork and elevate knowledge, skills with the objective methods. Arming students with improved technologies and computer knowledge, we aimed to develop a student-centered program, backed up with various elective courses, which deals with the issues on the basis of health.
The period of education is 6 years in The Medical Faculty. In addition to theoretical lessons, field studies , occupational skills lessons , multidisciplinary issues , trainings about preventive healthcare and health problems, students will be given opportunities to practice in our medical and simulation laboratories, as well as laboratories of medical biology, histology and pathology, microbiology, biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, genome and PBL (Problem Based Learning). Furthermore, our students will be given the chance to take part in countless international scientific studies while enrolled at our school. Additionally students will be given the chance to participate in authoring at least one international scientific article. Our students will be able to conduct their clinical internship and internship training at our Biruni University Hospital.
One feature that differentiates our faculty from other institutions is first-year students will be able to combine intensive English courses with their chosen departmental curriculum.
Our students can continue part of their education abroad through Erasmus, Farabi and Mevlana programs, allowing them the chance to join experimental and scientific studies abroad. Also, within the scope of an agreement with Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, a leading medicine faculty in the world, Biruni students can collaborate and partner with other international faculty and medical students on a global scale. In this way, our students are granted a competitive place in the world, serving as the best people in their respected fields.
In parallel with scientific and technological developments in the world, our target is to raise and cultivate a new generation of medical doctors who can implement genome studies in their professional lives.
Job and Career Opportunities
Graduates of the faculty of medicine will have the opportunity to work in private or state medical establishments as general practitioners. Graduates with a medical doctor diploma can apply for PhD programs in Basic Medical Sciences department.
General practitioners who wish to specialize in medicine can continue their training in Ministry of Health training and research hospitals or at university hospitals in any medical field. Upon successful completion of the Examination for Specialty in Medicine (TUS) made by OSYM, students can obtain the title “Specialist Physician” in their related areas in accordance with their grades in the aforementioned exam.
Medical doctors can work in their own clinics or in private or state medical institutions.
